How to deliver dance in social inclusion settings training course 6th - 9th September 2010

Dance United is offering a four-day training course to look at how to deliver high quality dance when working with challenging groups in the community.

There are places for 12 dance artists on the course which will take place from 6th - 9th September 2010 in London.

The main focus of this practical training course is the relationship between pro-active dance-based strategies that can be embedded in a dance methodology and re-active non-dance strategies that, together, can successfully resolve challenging behaviour, resistance and non-engagement within participant groups.  The key questions revolve around:

  •  What is the relationship between soft group management and hard dance skills embedded within dance?
  • What can you do when faced with challenge, confrontation and conflict?
  • What lies beneath participants presenting behaviours?
  • How can you decide whether behaviour is mildly, moderately or severely inappropriate and act accordingly?
  •  What makes challenging behaviour difficult to manage?
  •  How and why do particular strategies work?

Fee: £175

To apply for a place on the course please send your CV and a short covering letter of no more than an A4 page to Haris Marathefti at haris@dance-united.com by 10th August 2010

Places are limited so early application is advisable.
